Historical Archaeology Graduate Program

The Staff of the Fiske Center plays an integral role in the graduate program in historical archaeology. The graduate program trains students to participate in highly integrated, multi-disciplinary, multi-scaler research. It stresses the integration of data draw from the analysis of material culture, primary documents, environmental data, landscapes, architecture, and oral history. The program also stresses the integration of highly sophisticated methods with contemporary archaeological theory. Graduate students often participate in Center research projects and many use project data in their master’s theses. Center Staff oversee research in Eastern North America, the American Southwest, Iceland, and the Caribbean.
