Dr. Stephen Mrozowski

Stephen Mrozowski is the founding director of the Andrew Fiske Memorial Center for Archaeological Research at the University of Massachusetts Boston where he is also Professor of Anthropology. Mrozowski’s research encompasses the growth of complex societies, colonization, and its role in shaping the modern world. His particular research interests include social theory, spatial theory, historical archaeology, environmental archaeology, urban archaeology, industrial archaeology and indigenous archaeologies. He has conducted field research in Eastern North America, Northern Alaska, the Caribbean, Iceland and Northern Britain. He has published more than seventy scholarly articles and monographs and is the co-editor of Contemporary Archaeology in Theory: The New Pragmatism published by Wiley-Blackwell in 2010, the author of The Archaeology of Class in Urban America published by Cambridge University Press in 2006, co-editor of Lines that Divide: Historical Archaeologies of Race, Class, and Gender published by the University Tennessee Press in 2000 and coauthor of Living on the Boott: Historical Archaeology at the Boott Cotton Mills Boardinghouses, Lowell, Massachusetts published by the University of Massachusetts Press in 1996.
