Christa Beranek

Christa M. Beranek is a Project Archaeologist for the Fiske Center. She is a historical archaeologist focusing on Eastern North America, with interests in material culture studies, vernacular architecture, and archaeological writing. Her primary research has been on rural Massachusetts in the 18th century, exploring questions of personal identity and the role of rural merchants as culture brokers in spreading new material and social practices. At UMass, she in engaged in projects at several Massachusetts sites, both excavations and collections analyses. She received her Ph.D. from Boston University in 2007.
