FiskeCat is the Fiske Center’s database for cataloging historic period artifacts. Designed as a relational database in FileMaker, FiskeCat allows for detailed cataloging of ceramic and glass artifacts, nails and fasteners, pipes, and small finds; catalogs for other classes of artifacts and for faunal remains are being developed. The database can be used to generate catalogs for reports, to assist in the integration of artifact distribution data into GIS, and to search for artifact types within and among sites for research purposes. FiskeCat is available in the Center’s laboratories and will be web-accessible in the future.
